Become a

Dungeon Master

It’s Saturday night and you want to play some D&D. You’ve got a group of friends together but nobody wants to be the Dungeon Master. You would do it yourself, but everything feels overwhelming. Well, I’ve been there. I initially started out as a player, but we kept running into the issue of having a consistent DM. I wanted to become a DM myself, but looking at the dungeon master’s guide and player’s handbook, it all felt a little overwhelming. Yet, once I did my first few sessions, I started to feel more comfortable. I also used online tutorials and developed my craft using various sources. By the time I finished my first campaign, I fully realized that being a DM is as daunting a task as it may seem.

Now, I’ve done nearly a dozen campaigns and refined my skills to a point that I’m confident in my own abilities. Yet, I know that there are people out there that wish to be a DM and just don’t know where to begin. That’s where my Learn to Be a Dungeon Master Course comes in.

Learn to Be a Dungeon Master

This is a course I’ve put together that seeks to demystify the concept of being a dungeon master: what it means to be a dm, what’s expected, what kind of preparation is needed, etc. I’m currently looking for people who wish to become dungeon masters to participate together in a course that will teach and train them to be a successful dm.

What will this course look like?

Part 1 - These sessions will involve learning how characters are built, what’s expected from a dm, bests practices with before session preparation, and general questions. There will also be a one-shot where students will be players and the dm will discuss things as they happen, such as why certain choices were made and options for a dm.

Part 2 - These sessions will have each student take turns being a dm. I will guide the student dm as needed and we will stop the game as needed to discuss options and various choices that could be made by DM and player alike. I will also periodically present possible player scenarios that have happened to me to see how the student would resolve them.

**Notice** If you sign up for this session, please know that you will be expected to maintain a commitment to playing through all of the sessions for the training, even when you are not the DM. Other people will play through your DMing session, and it is only fair that you play through theirs.
